MINDSCAPE

This project develops an incense clock holder that integrates timekeeping with ritual experience, balancing safety, usability, and production feasibility through user research, manufacturing analysis, and iterative design.

  • The challenge of this design was that I needed to research mass production and, within the engineering constraints of mass production, showcase the portability, texture, CMF (cream, flour, and oil), and cultural integration characteristics of an incense holder as much as possible.

  • I utilize metal laser printing technology for rapid prototyping and mass production to reduce costs, achieving prices far lower than traditional CNC or casting processes. I also use mold making to mass-produce transparent plastic and resin parts. At high volumes, this can save nearly half the cost of traditional manufacturing processes. Furthermore, the higher precision makes it easier to create complex structural parts.

  • Regarding meditation, when we're all living in high-rise buildings, our time becomes extremely fragmented. Therefore, we can only use the limited time we have to clear our minds and focus more intently on other things. This project, as a product, aims to help people cultivate meditation and a sense of time at a low cost.
