First, we discussed that our client will need airflow to address moisture from the cook machine. Still, after the site visit and conversation with the client, we decided to add a pegboard system to the design, which eliminated the need for a standalone point of set airflow. Early we have the sizing of 12in x 12in x 12in for the smallest unit, but after talking and see other groups dimension strategy, we settled on the dimensions of 12in h x 12in w x 24in d / 12in w x 24in h x 24in d / 12in w x 36in h x 24in d. To maximize the use of the space, we developed the Box-in-Box system.

I primarily focus on a modular system that accommodates unlimited sizing. However, considering the security and property of the material, from the first cardboard prototype, our group developed and decided to make modular panels as the foundation of the modular system. We initially considered using a dovetail joint, but given the amount of work required for manufacturing, we decided to use a “clamex” to connect the panels.

After we had formulated the Box-in-Box Concept, we discussed numerous thoughts on how to safely and effectively cut the space. After the iteration, we provide a manufacturing profile that can produce a lock that fits into the pegboard and binds the small box and the large locker together.

we 3D print a sample part of this lock, and tested try to open it from the inside of the box.

We had several iterations of the door and the following label system. Since we are designing a locker system based on security, we settled on using a small window to guide the user to general information about the “inside of the Lock and Box.” For the Label system, we decided to use a slide-in box method to keep the label protected.

At the same time, we found that the existing hanging devices on the pegboard used in supermarkets lacked security. Therefore, when I designed the device for hanging small boxes on the lockers, I focused on both the "locking" performance and the "stability" performance. And the lock, small box and locker should be locked as tightly as possible.
